The mysterious story of a Sumava homestead
The Christlhof, or Fairy Tale in Šumava, was infamous for the serial killer Ivan Roubal. The murderous rampage is said to have awakened in him right here. He was haunted by unfamiliar voices in his secluded place, where he probably also disposed of some of his victims.
But the dark history of the place is much deeper. The homestead witnessed the tragedy of two families during the Thirty Years' War and the other inhabitants did not find happiness here either. Roubal was far from the only one who shed blood here and who was then caught up in the merciless consequences of his actions. If there really are cursed places, the Christlhof solitude is one of them.
