Sleeping boy
Sixteen-year-old Lenka has a loving dad, but she knows almost nothing about her extended family. To fill this huge void, she uses an old photograph of a little boy to start researching her family history.
She uncovers the stories of Anežka, who grew up in the Beskydy mountains at the beginning of the 20th century and carries the guilt of a family tragedy throughout her life, and Marie, who was born in 1946. Lenka gradually discovers that Marie's birth was not entirely a happy and anticipated event.
The book is about searching for one's roots, the desire to belong, guilt, and forgiveness. It explores the complexity of family relationships, weaving through the pivotal events of the 20th century in our country, which had a profound impact on the story's characters, even though they could not influence them in any way.
