Sinful Saint

We know very little about the origins of the Czech state, our knowledge is based only on small mentions in old chronicles and fragmentary archaeological findings, which allow for different interpretations. In this book, the well-known Czech author has attempted to present the ancient past as a gripping novel in which the figure of Princess Ludmilla, wife of the first baptised Bořivoj, the first Czech prince, slowly comes to the fore. It is not portrayed here as, as we know it from the legends, she loses the aura of a saint, so she shows herself to be a pragmatic ruler, who, following the example of her former patron, of the Moravian king Svatopluk, subordinates everything, including his family life, the interests of the principality...
