Silver dagger

The Wallenstein Festival and Frýdlant, a town at the end of the world. The new case of Hangman Brieftrager.

Záviš, a historian without a place and a worker without illusions, comes to Frýdlant to work on the restoration of the local castle. He's expecting a routine job: a little rock and plenty of time for a beer. But Frýdlant is a town with a history, the Wallenstein Festival is coming up, and it would not do for Záviš not to get involved in something again.
First, he gets into a fight with a local brawler, then loses a book from the library, and finally discovers a mysterious dagger that bears a striking resemblance to a seventeenth-century artifact. When the corpse of one of the swordsmen is found at the ongoing festivities, it is soon discovered that this dagger is the murder weapon.
So Záviš, as a self-proclaimed investigator, will not escape the next case. Once again he stumbles, beer in hand and dark demons in his head, between cynicism and justice. But this time it's different... A red-haired beauty gets involved in the case, and she messes with Záviš's head.
A thrilling detective story full of old wrongs and melancholy, smelling of malt and dusty chronicles.

Egon Trnka

Egon Trnka (*1963) was born and lives in Prague. Although he studied history at Charles University, he did not remain professionally in the field. In the past he worked as a clerk, journalist or seasonal worker. He is currently working in an international corporation and is putting his love of history into his literary work. He began to work on this subject already during the previous regime, but his first attempts did not pass through the censorship net of the time, and so they ended up in a drawer. Although he did not find time to write for a long time, he never gave up his dream of becoming a writer. He eventually fulfilled it through his Crime Scene series of detective novels. Egon Trnka lives in a small apartment in Prague's Holešovice, where he is kept company by nosy pigeons and a cat too lazy to scare them away.
