Silent mail

The rescue of an injured French partisan by Sudeten children, the subsequent fates of two political prisoners, and a story from the Bohemian Forest borderlands where people smugglers helping refugees escape the communist regime followed in the footsteps of traditional smugglers. Four short stories, set in the period from the end of the Second World War to the recent past, recall the turbulent moments of Czech history. However, thanks to the optimistic perspective and detachment of Jiří Stránský, who wove his own life experiences into his books, they are interspersed with humour, and a belief in friendship and justice.
