Sherabad Oasis

This paper is the second volume of a series publishing the results of the Czech-Uzbek archaeological expedition in southern Uzbekistan. While the first volume was devoted to excavations at the central site of the Sherabad oasis called Jandavlattepa, the second volume presents the development of settlement throughout this oasis reconstructed on the basis of data from our expedition. The methodology used includes both extensive and intensive surface prospecting, review of existing published data, mapping and satellite imagery. In addition to the actual dynamics of settlement in the area of interest from prehistoric to modern times, the development of irrigation systems in the lowland steppes was also studied.
