A time-barred murder becomes an actual case
The past is unforgiving. A skeletal discovery in a remote location sets in motion an investigation that takes a group of detectives around the newly promoted Commissioner Peter Ledecky far into the past. Another century, another regime and another police force? Could someone have murdered a murderer who, moreover, was supposed to be in exile? Against the flow of time, they try to find answers to the questions that gradually appear on their table. The problem is that there are woefully few memoirs from the Public Security era and the necessary files are hard to find. But is it even necessary to investigate an already time-barred murder?
The current case of the beastly stabbing of a young girl has and must take precedence. Only after solving it quickly can the detectives delve into the past again. They have to rely on sketchy information, but fortunately they can take advantage of modern science. Apart from people, things can also speak - an old groping notebook of a long-dead woman, yellowed black and white photographs and finally a historical murder weapon.
The shadows of the past touch the living, making a time-barred monument a current case. But the surprises don't end there, archival documents will also give up their secrets. The old truth about the mills of God is given a new dimension and the hunter becomes the hunted beast.
