Shadow of the father

Due to unceasing reader interest, this famous novel about Joseph of Nazareth is now in its sixth edition. In Dobraczyński's telling, this mysterious biblical figure literally comes to life before our eyes, and with him, the turbulent, complex era in which Joseph, at God's command, takes on the role of the Virgin Mary's husband and Jesus' earthly father. The book captures the dramatic trials of the Holy Family, as well as their daily life, which unfolds in an atmosphere of tense anticipation for the Messiah's arrival, all set against the backdrop of King Herod the Great's reign of terror.
