Does harsh normalisation favour love and dreams? The Seventies - Hotel in the Whirlwind of Time is a story with autobiographical elements written by Josef Káďa Kadeřábek.
The main character of the book - the waiter's apprentice Pína - will answer you. It is he who experiences the difficult period of growing up, first love, joys and losses at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. At the same time, he is increasingly aware of the desperation of the times in which he lives.
The story, with autobiographical elements, faithfully describes the life and functioning of the international hotel at that time. It shows the demanding work of the employees, but also the behind-the-scenes practices and agencies that were inherent to the "elite" of the time. At the same time, the author of the environment, where he grew up from the age of 15, he describes with special tenderness, so you'll feel that hotel and all the characters, that are featured here, he almost considers family.
The author's definition of this environment could be the answer to the questions raised and not answered in the book: "A hotel is actually a living organism that lives its own life... and never sleeps..."
