"What makes thinking difficult is chaos. We try to do too many things at once. Information is pouring in from all sides, emotions are flooding us, but we have to think logically, not give up hope and creatively solve what we can. It's like we're juggling too many balls at once. ”
Six coloured hats in practiceSix Hats was first published in 1985 and over the years has become a multi-million dollar bestseller. So what is the magic of this method, you ask? It's easier than you think. The technique is based on different ways of thinking. The idea is that participants will put on different coloured hats during the discussion and will have to comment on the issue from a particular perspective. This will get participants thinking in different ways, but also expressing opinions from under the safety of a hat that might otherwise go unspoken.
What are the characteristics of each hat?
The white hat represents objective facts and figures. The red hat represents an emotional approach. The Black Hat maps the negative aspects and arguments why this or that is not possible. The yellow hat is optimistic, expresses hope and positive thinking. The green hat symbolizes creativity and new ideas. Blue Hat is concerned with the management and organization of thought processes.
