Secret Castles and Chateaux III.
For the third time, Otomar Dvořák and Josef Pepson Snětivý have set out to explore Prague's diverse corners, the banks of the Vltava and other rivers and bodies of water, enchanted grounds and magnificent palaces. Once again, they present hidden gems in unexpected contexts and surprising places through words and pictures.
They invite you to discover them with these words: “First, we will discover America in Prague. It's rococo-sweet! Then, on the left bank of the Vltava, we will reconstruct the line of Jesuit summer houses and seek out what remains of it. For refreshment, we will dive into the land of animals, water and summer palaces, that is, into Stromovka and its surroundings. From there we will head to the star that fell between Liboc and Ruzyně, to the unique building called Hvězda and its picturesque surroundings. Water will continue to accompany us: in previous books together, we often found ourselves on the banks of the Botič or Brusnice, now we will explore the surroundings of the Rokytka; our reward will be surprising discoveries in three historical locations. Even more charm will delight our senses in Smíchov and Košíře, where five beautiful (and mostly mysterious, as if enchanted) areas await us: Bertramka, Klamovka, Cibulka, Bulovka, and Šmukýřka. Then we will again approach the Vltava – to the monuments that are (and are not) playing tag. Subsequently, we will try to track down the fortresses hidden among the ponds and trees (Šeberov, Hrnčíře and Slavětice). And finally, in the spirit of the previous volumes, we will venture beyond the borders of Prague. This time we will start where we finished a similar trip last time, and explore Klecany and its surroundings.
Let us take only the bare essentials on our pilgrimage – and make the journey with our eyes and hearts open! Only then will Prague show us its hidden beauty.”
