Scotland: Glencoe massacre

Nobody had ever remembered such a hard winter as in 1692. Blizzard followed blizzard and the snow was more waist than knee deep. When the frosty royal soldiers came to the picturesque Glencoe Valley to collect taxes, the MacIains took them under their roofs because the law of Scottish hospitality dictated it.

No one knew at that moment that an order would come that would turn peaceful coexistence into a bloodbath. And Bára had no idea that her search for who had given the order would lead her to the court of King Louis XIV of France.

In her books, historian Veronika Válková transports readers to real, real history, where she and Bára experience exciting moments, but they also learn a lot.
