Saltykov-Shchedrin: The Death of Pazuchin

In his comedies, Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin mocked the avarice and insolence of his contemporaries. The Death of Pazuchin revolves around the events stirred up by a handful of heirs after the death of a wealthy landowner. In 1991, the production was staged by Lída Engelová. Rudolf Hrušínský excels in the title role of Ivan Prokofjić Pazuchin, while Jiřina Bohdalová appears as his housekeeper Anna Petrovna Živojedová.
