The Rhythm of the Year with Hanka Zemanová – May

May – the time for love and tea. Nature is in full bloom. Flowers, as the plant's reproductive organs, produce various hormones. Some are intoxicating, others are downright exciting. It's not just insects who feel it, we all do. Love and beauty are vibrating in the air. Unfortunately, this blossoming landscape also sees the highest number of sprayers in action, damaging both biodiversity and our immunity. • What leaves should you gather on your May walks in the woods for a year-round tea supply? How do you make homemade fruit teas? • Which flowers harmonise the thyroid gland and why is it healthy to eat asparagus in May? • What can each of us do to protect biodiversity? And how can you prepare a drink from meadow herbs that I call a “five-star spa for our cells”? Hanka Zemanová She graduated from the Faculty of Education, but instead of teaching children in school, she teaches people how to eat more healthily and naturally. She has written four bestselling books: The Bio-Cookbook, The Bio-A-to-Z, and The New Bio-Cookbook, which have sold nearly 80,000 copies. In 2021, she completed her most beautiful and comprehensive book to date, Rhythm of the Year. Hanka was instrumental in founding the Pro-BioLeague (now Lovime.bio) and the Zemanka Organic Bakery. She is fond of the saying, “Though the father of the disease be unknown, the mother is always diet,” and therefore considers wholesome food the simplest way to reduce the “chemical cocktail” in our bodies and in nature. She shows that organic is not a trend or an unnecessary luxury, but an ever-increasing necessity – for the soil, groundwater, biodiversity, and for our resilience and immunity. Hanka is from Prague but has lived in the countryside near Sedlčany since 2006. She is the mother of two daughters, Natálka and Eliška.
