Rulers of the Remains

More stories of the Czech knight Martin of Stvoln, set in the middle of the 14th century. Emperor Charles IV. will confirm his marriage to the former wife of the executioner of Třeboň, Johanka. Martin of Stvolno goes to Germany to fetch her, where he leaves her sick in the monastery. However, she is horrified to learn that the Inquisition has taken her and is holding her hostage. Martin is faced with a difficult choice - either to give himself into the hands of his former friend Conrad of Worms or to lose his love forever. He decides to play for everything, so he returns to France. Old memories come alive again, he meets old friends and enemies. Thus begins another adventurous journey through medieval Europe, which will take Martin of Stvoln not only to the papal Avignon and the Doge's court in Venice, but also with Emperor Charles IV. eventually to Rome.
