Ruin on the neck and other disasters

Who has never dreamed of living in a castle… with no roof, no central heating and ivy for furniture?

The sprawling Cornish castle of Trelawney, with all its towers, ornamental spires, a room for every day of the year, six miles of corridors and 500,000 acres of land, has long been the flamboyant and unmissable calling card of its owners.

700 years, 24 financially illiterate earls, 2 world wars and 1 financial crisis later, the Trelawney family is completely broke and the grand mansion falls on their heads. Yet the descendants of the family – Count Kitto, his wife Jane, their three spoiled children, Dog, Kitt's grandparents and Aunt Tuffy, an etymologist studying fleas – they live on in a dilapidated castle, where there are more rooms with ivy-covered walls than those where it doesn't seep in, and they do as if they were doing nothing.

When a letter arrives at the castle announcing the arrival of Ayesha – the daughter of the beautiful Anastasia, Jane's old friend, an avalanche of events is triggered that turns the entire mansion and the lives of its inhabitants upside down. The fractured family must band together and take back Kitt's estranged sister Blaze to save the mansion and the family's honor. Jane and Blaze quickly discover that the house itself is only a very small part of what really holds their family together.
