Amelia Rose, known to her fans as Rae Rose, is feeling burnt out after years of living up to her “pop princess” image. Inspired by the film Roman Holiday starring her favourite actress, Audrey Hepburn, she flees to Rome in the middle of the night. Only this Rome is in Kentucky, USA.

When Noah Walker finds Amelia in a broken-down car on his front lawn, he makes it clear that he has neither the time nor the patience for a celebrity's problems. He has his hands full with the bakery his grandmother left him and keeping his kind but nosy neighbours in line. With mixed feelings, he eventually lets the pop star stay in his guest room – but only until her car is fixed.

Over time, however, Noah begins to see Amelia behind Rae Rose, a kind-hearted, slightly goofy, but lonely girl after years in the public eye, and against his better judgement, he slowly begins to grow closer to her. In return, Amelia helps him transform from an old grump into a person with an open heart. She gradually falls in love with her companion and his charming little town. But even Audrey had to leave Rome in the end…
