Révi and the City of Dreams
Why it is important not to stop dreaming. And more importantly, keep awake.
Révi is a 15-year-old boy growing up in the City of Dreams. In a perfect place, controlled by the omniscient artificial intelligence Omnicloud. Everyone here lives in safety, abundance and health. Almost all of them. Révi has been suffering from an incurable disease since birth. Apart from poor health, it has another side effect. Unlike the other inhabitants of the City, he has not lost his ability to dream at night. However, only his older sister Esmé knows about this secret. When Révi begins to have strangely vivid dreams in which a mysterious red-haired girl with wild eyes begs him to help the world beyond the Wall, there is no indication at first that he is the one who will save the Wilderness. Shortly afterwards, however, the opposite information comes from Omnicloud: The wall is crumbling and the City of Dreams is in danger of being invaded by the Wilderness. But where is the truth? Can a man believe in his dreams? Or should it rely on a perfectly functional system that has never failed so far?
