In the book Radier to go mad in the wilderness, writer Aleš Palán has brought interviews with Šumava loners. He has recorded the unique stories of people who live hidden away in marquees and mountain solitudes, some without identity. The accounts of the solitaires from the most extensive Czech mountain range recorded an unprecedented response among readers, the title became a bestseller and won the Book of the Year award in the Lidové noviny poll.
Aleš Palán and photographer Jan Šibík continue to visit Šumava. The result of their visits is the book Back to the Wilderness. Jan Šibík brings here new photos, Aleš Palán brings his reflection on what the three years with the loners gave him, what these people gave him the most and why he likes them so much. He also publishes stories that didn't make it into Radder to Madness in the Wilderness.
