Can the love of God be stronger than the love of man?
Jana is convinced that nothing can break her faith. Especially when freedom comes and she can finally live in a monastery. She enters among the sisters full of hope, determination, but also illusions. These are beginning to crumble with the daily religious life. Jana must reexamine her unfulfilled relationship with Viktor, but above all, she must answer the questions that the mysterious Karin brings into her life.
The novel gives the reader a glimpse into the mysterious world of the monastery, and this image defies the usual ideas of life there. And while it may seem unflattering in places, it doesn't judge anyone. Last but not least, The Return is a fascinating love story. Because human love is like an untamed, multiple animal that persistently seeks a mate...

Petra Dvořáková's books stand out for their sensitive depiction of the human psyche, relationships and inner conflicts. The author works well with language and is able to portray emotions and common life situations authentically. Her stories are engaging for their depth, empathy and humour, and their ability to open up important, often taboo topics.

Although I lived in the convent for several years, this is not my own story, nor is it the story of any particular sister. But what is authentic is the experience and depiction of everyday life in the convent, where women of all ages, characters and mindsets meet. The reality of such a life is never revealed in fleeting encounters with the nuns, but is only glimpsed when one stays among them for a long time.
