Resurrection
Resurrection is Tolstoy's last great novel. It is the story of a nobleman's attempt to atone for the suffering and subsequent misfortune he caused a girl from the lower classes. Tolstoy presents a psychological story about guilt, failure, the consequences of selfish decisions, and the possibility of forgiveness. At the same time, unlike his previous works, he focuses on the tragic circumstances of the unjust social order of Russian society at the end of the 19th century. The text is based on the translation by Mária Klimová and has undergone minimal revisions.
