Shortly after the summer solstice, Superintendent Ingrid Nyström deals with a strange murder case. Adam Arlemark, a reclusive computer expert, had his heart removed from his chest and a moon rock inserted in its place. As the investigation gets into full swing, it becomes clear that the victim has experienced terrible things in the past... If Nyström wants to solve the case, she must delve into a dark world, even though it goes against her inner beliefs. At the same time, Commissioner Stina Forss is investigating the mysterious crime. She travels across the Arctic Circle to the mining town of Kiruna to solve the murder of alcoholic Matti Leinonen, in which the killer disappeared from a closed area. While the two commissioners struggle with their own demons, the cases are getting closer and closer. And it's only a matter of time before another victim appears on the scene.
