Rare diseases accompanied by hypergammaglobulinemia and inflammatory manifestations
The diseases in this book have one thing in common – high total protein as a consequence of excessive immunoglobulin production, both polyclonal and monoclonal. The book focuses on diseases that are accompanied by elevated levels of polyclonal immunoglobulins – for Castleman's disease, IgG4 immunoglobulin-associated disease, idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis and Rosai-Dorfman disease.
All these four diagnoses may have some common features, including immunohistochemical detection of plasmocytes carrying IgG4 subclass immunoglobulin on their surface, and therefore much attention is paid to differential diagnosis.
Rating: The authors of the publication Adam Zdeněk, Pour Luděk, Zeman David received the Rector of Masaryk University Award for Creative Achievement. The book brings a unique worldwide summary of the subject.
