The wedding of Margaret of Valois, called Margot, and Henry of Navarre was to reconcile Protestants with Catholics, but events, that followed, became synonymous with bloodshed. The 16th-century French royal court forms the backdrop and fate of the energetic regent Margaret in this radio fresco based on Alexandre Dumas' famous historical novel Queen Margot.
The story takes place at the French royal court in the 16th century against the backdrop of the growing conflict between Catholics and Protestants, which resulted in the massacre known as the Night of Bartholomew.
The central couple is the newlywed couple Margaret of Valois, called Margot, and Henry of Navarre. In a typically Dumasian story full of intrigue, traps and secrets, a number of historical figures such as Catherine de' Medici or the French king Charles IX.
The series was directed by Dimitrij Dudík, based on a script by Michal Lázňovský and dramaturgy by Hynek Pekárek, using modern radio means. Music composed by Petr Mandel. In the central pair of the newlyweds you will hear Andrea Elsnerová and Michal Zelenka.
