Quality and risk management in psychiatric care
The book is unique in the Czech Republic for its subject matter. Despite the increasing interest of the government and the Ministry of Health in the quality of health services, there is no similar monograph on the Czech market.
Mental health care is currently undergoing reform and we are increasingly hearing about various aspects of mental health from the media. The professional community has made considerable efforts to destigmatise psychiatry. The crucial issue of quality and safety in this area is also coming under the spotlight.
At the same time, psychiatric care experiences many hardships and misunderstandings from the general public and professionals. It has a very uncertain legislative framework and is significantly underfunded. This is despite the fact that the consumption of neuropsychopharmaceuticals shows an increasing trend and inpatient and outpatient capacities are full. The increase in the number of consumers of care also brings with it the burden of lawsuits, where often the only support that remains for health care professionals is properly maintained documentation.
Risk management and monitoring the quality of care is an important part of the care of psychiatric patients. As well as the management of adverse events in healthcare, this topic is currently more than topical. The ongoing reform of psychiatric care is linked to the issue of quality and safety in this area.
