In 1942, a tragic event occurred in Příbram. Based on a denunciation, the headmaster of the grammar school, Dr Josef Lukeš, a student, Antonín Stočes, and his father, Vojtěch Stočes, were arrested for trivial reasons and executed shortly thereafter. Immediately after the war, this event became the subject for Jan Drda, who adapted it into the short story Higher Principle. This story then became the basis for the famous 1960 film of the same name. This represents one line of the post-war handling of this story. The second was the search for the informant(s). From the mid-1960s, the investigation was directed by the State Security. Was Miroslav Červenka, who was convicted, really the only person responsible for the deaths of three people he knew well? Or was he just a limited, naive young man who fell under the fatal influence of his older classmate who “joined the Germans” during the occupation?
