Princess Rules 1
Isn't she a pretty flower? I mean, she's not like the other princesses...
The heiress of the land called the Seven Kingdoms doesn't waste her time worrying about embroidery, fashion, diets, let alone avenging a disgraced judge - she hasn't even been cursed by one. And she certainly doesn't intend to be stuck in a tower when the handsome man comes to rescue her, for she finds the five hundred rigid rules that other royal daughters follow rather to their own detriment amusing. So when the time of courtship comes, Květuše causes such a stir in the court of Prince Kuklik of the Land of the Deep Lakes that even the groom himself falls out of the role. If you're still expecting a wedding like a belt, you're wrong, because this is just the beginning! Whether these two face a dragon, wolves or a giant together, they will cope differently than usual in fairy tales!
There are more ways in the world to be a good princess. The popular British author shows little ones how playfully a noble commitment can be fulfilled. And for the amusement of parents, he adds a gentle parody of the workings of an island monarchy.

They wrote about the book:
An exceptionally hilarious way to attract little ones to books. And how to convince them that it is best to walk through the world with confidence in themselves.
- The Times

Even the charming manner of presentation does not deprive these tales of a serious message. Even after twenty years, their blend of humour and determination continues to win another generation of fans.
- The Daily Telegraph

Sound the alarm! Both the monarchy and the classic bedtime stories are under threat. And it will be even more evident when read aloud in a family circle.

Philippa Gregory
(* 1954) A native of Nairobi, she moved with her parents from the then British colony of Kenya to Bristol in the West of England at an early age, where she impressed her primary school teachers with her deep interest in history. She studied English at Sussex and history at Edinburgh and Durham, where she also lectured. With Alison Weir and Hilary Mantel, she is one of the most sought-after chroniclers of the early modern island. Her extensive body of work, comprising over 40 novels in three cycles focusing primarily on the feminine power of queens, chronicles the era of the expanding Plantagenets, the Tudors and the subsequent Georgian era. Most of these prose works have also been published in Czech translation. For the King's favour (no. 2006; made into a film), commenting on conditions at the court of the feared Henry VIII, won the national award for best romance of 2001. Her interest in the changing face of the British monarchy has translated into books for children. The adventures of her rebellious princess Květuša - Florizella in the original - have been published since 1988. Although it is in them that the author gently teases the political set-up of her homeland, she was awarded the Order of the British Empire (2021) for her literary legacy and charitable work. In his latest play, Richard, My Richard (2024), he depicts the tragic conclusion of the War of the Roses.
