Prevention and control of healthcare associated infections

The author focuses on selected topics in the field of prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections in the context of the provision of nursing care in the Czech Republic. Current international recommendations are implemented.

The book primarily defines healthcare-associated infections and basic preventive measures, including hand hygiene, decontamination of reusable items and surfaces in clinical practice, aseptic techniques in nursing interventions, and selected infection prevention and control procedures. Last but not least, it offers innovative educational opportunities in this area, including the use of simulation teaching methods. The text includes new methods and international recommendations from professional institutions, including scientific knowledge useful in the prevention of healthcare-associated infections. The presented publication reflects the requirements for high-quality and safe provision of health services in the conditions of the 21st century. Its structure is based on the author' s previous publishing activities and scientific research focus.

The target group consists primarily of the professional public, which addresses the issue of prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections from various perspectives in clinical practice, namely, primarily non-medical healthcare workers, Educators, doctors, quality managers, as well as students and other interested parties. The main professional contribution of the book lies in the introduction and outline of basic hygiene and epidemiological measures in the prevention of healthcare-associated infections, including inspirational aspects for increasing compliance with individual measures in the clinical conditions of healthcare providers. The publication also helps to understand the importance of following basic preventive measures.
