Prehistoric art
The subject of the publication is the birth of human creativity in the context of human evolution. Special attention is paid to the development, description and interpretation of prehistoric art. The first part of the book presents a model of anthropogenesis and human evolution with emphasis on the origin and migration of anatomically modern humans (Homo sapiens). The focus of the theoretical analysis is also the everyday life of prehistoric hunters and gatherers, the developmental changes of Palaeolithic industry and the ways of using caves and overhangs. In connection with the genesis of human creativity, the phenomenon of interchange is further analysed and interpreted: non-utilitarian artefacts, which were created already in the Old and Middle Palaeolithic period. The book also attempts to clarify the meaning and significance of prehistoric artifacts through theories and hypotheses about the origins of human creativity and art. The second part of the publication presents specific artistic expressions in the periods of the Early Palaeolithic (Aurignacian, Gravettian, Solutrean and Magdalenian), including material technology. Mobile and parietal arts are systematically and chronologically categorized, described and interpreted in the context of their discovery and current knowledge.
