Pity the Love

This collection of short stories, loosely connected by musical themes, presents a kind of motley crew of all those "local Elvises" and rock'n'roll bands that broke up before they could even agree on a name, as well as a whole host of quirky outsiders who, for many musical generations, have been dreaming their hazy dream of fame. The author takes us not only to his native Dejvice and the nearby Hanspaulka, but also to Smetana's Litomyšl and a completely remote border village. The book's title refers to the most famous Czech hit of all time – the famous polka by Jaromír Vejvoda.
