Female musicians in the 21st century
Pavla Jonssonová's book brings twenty interviews with leading Czech musicians who are united by their affiliation to the Czech alternative music scene. The author tries to find answers to the following questions: Why are there so few girl groups? Where do most talented girls go? Is women's creativity different from men's? What interesting and new things do women bring to music? How else does it address the classic issues associated with music production? Was there a Czech response to the American riot grrrls movement of the 1990s?
The interviews explore their personal histories, creative methods, views on the situation of women in music and life in general, and how spirituality influences their work. They show the interconnectedness of the participants and the affinity, both musical and human.
