Physiology for Physical Education (selected chapters, part II. )

The first part of the script entitled Physiology for Physical Education (selected chapters, part I, Shoes, Neuls, Klimešová, & Exile, 2017) presented a certain syllabus of basic and expanding knowledge usable in a number of bachelor' s and master' s courses taught and studied at the Faculty of Arts, UP in Olomouc, whose content is oriented towards exercise physiology and related fields. The following second part of " selected chapters" deals with other topics in a similar spirit, which, as in the case of the first part, should serve not only as a source of information necessary for completing the relevant credits and exams, but also be applicable in physical education and sports practice. The focus of the text is on the physiological aspects of selected sports (football, ice hockey, athletics, road cycling and swimming). The following are chapters dedicated to diving, the specifics of childhood and adolescence, biorhythms, immunity, conditioning before performance, or health aspects of physical activity. A number of practical tips are included in topics focused on the possibilities of quantifying the body' s response to stress as well as current knowledge in sports nutrition. A chapter discussing the effects of molecular hydrogen is currently included, and because research into physiological and biochemical processes is constantly evolving, we are also responding by updating knowledge about the sources of acidosis during muscle work, thereby clarifying the corresponding chapters in the first part of the script. Given that in the physiological aspects of selected sports we also focus more on the somatic characteristics of athletes, as a bonus at the end we include additional information about somatodiagnostics in sports.
