Physiology and pathological physiology
The first domestic textbook and monograph linking one of the basic subjects of medical study, i.e. physiology and pathological physiology. The book is based on the curricula of both subjects taught at medical faculties, but also points out their practical use in the clinic. It is intended especially for students of all medical faculties in the Czech and Slovak Republics. It will also be appreciated by students of medicine at Charles University, especially the departments of Physiology and Pathological Physiology of Man, Neuroscience and Experimental Surgery. Of course, it can be used by postgraduate students at other medical faculties. It is also suitable for physicians of all medical disciplines to understand the nature of the processes taking place in the human body under normal and pathological circumstances. The high didacticism of the full-colour publication is helped by 180 original pictures and 56 tables. This book describes the general anchoring of the fields of physiology and pathological physiology in the system of medical sciences and their historical development. It emphasizes the practical importance of knowledge of both disciplines for further clinical training of physicians, as well as for the general education of already qualified physicians preparing for various certification and qualification examinations. Of course, it should be a lifelong guide for physicians of all disciplines in the correct view of the functions of the human body in normality and pathology. After a general introduction, where physiology and pathological physiology draw on many other disciplines, especially biology, molecular biology, genetics, medical physics and physiological chemistry, the different systems of the human body are discussed. Attention is paid not only to basic functions, but also to regulatory mechanisms and disorders, and in particular the interplay between these systems in health and disease is emphasized. Keywords: Medicine, normal physiology, pathological physiology, historical development of physiology and pathological physiology, structure and function of individual systems in norm and pathology, control systems of the organism and their influence on the functions of the human body in health and disease, psychoneuroendrocrinoimmunology
