Phylacterion

Archaeologist Philip spent several years in Turkish Cappadocia, where he participated in the excavation of a settlement from the early Christian era. Unexpectedly, he returns to Prague and asks for help from his uncle, a renowned psychologist. The ancient community whose remains Philip picks up during his excavations comes to life in his dreams - and these people live in fear of an unexplained threat that is crippling and killing them one by one. What Filip doesn't know is that the nightmare will not only not leave him in his Prague retreat, but on the contrary, it will start to come true. < br> The story, full of mystery and suspense, unfolds along two lines: The narrator spends his days in the company of the other peculiar inhabitants of his uncle's house, and at night he becomes a member of an ancient community and faces a mysterious evil together with them. But what is a dream and what is reality? Who is the hero supposed to trust, and can he even trust himself? The author skillfully interweaves the individual threads, seamlessly incorporating elements of ancient mythology and early Christianity into the plot, as well as actual written monuments from this period. Both lovers of chills and more demanding readers interested in ancient civilization and its legacy for our present will find something to enjoy here.
