Photographs of work and idleness
The book Photography of Work and Idleness deals with the photographic image and its commentary on the phenomenon of "work" in the changes of time. It is based on the fact that every photograph depicting a person and their interaction in society naturally carries a social narrative potential. Through a selection of works by Czech photographers, it brings together the forms, space, time, process and product of work in a reflection of the quality of human life. It illustrates the ways of mutual reflection on the work of the individual and society in the Czech environment, when the history of photography intersected with the social and labour history of man, by illustrating the profession of photography. The publication is also a theoretical introduction to the on-line photographic exhibition of the same name on the National Museum's website. The book contains over 100 photographs by leading Czech photographers such as Libuše Jarcovjáková, Viktor Kolář, Karel Cudlín, Antonín Kratochvíl and others.
