Parenting Journeys
A collective of authors from Masaryk University has produced a comprehensive sociological report on the approach of modern Czech men and women to parenthood. How has the fertility rate in our country changed in recent decades? Is it really so low that it will lead to serious consequences? How are its timing and context changing? How are the differences in behaviour between various educational groups developing, and are there regional differences in this sphere of behaviour? In seeking answers to these questions, the authors drew mainly from a unique data source: a database of births between 1993 and 2012. Longitudinal data of this scope (an exhaustive dataset) has not been analysed before, and its interpretation thus offers new perspectives.
