OpenOffice.org

The book is intended for more advanced users of the OpenOffice.org office suite who have already mastered the basic skills necessary to work with this program. It introduces the reader to the secrets of programming using the OpenOffice.org Basic programming language in a simple way. It focuses on creating macros for spreadsheets, but the knowledge gained can also be used when working with other OpenOffice.org programs. Individual programming procedures are described in detail, so the reader does not need previous programming experience to master them.

The first part of the book is devoted to an explanation of the basic concepts. It describes the environment in which macros are created and how they are stored. The reader will learn about the function of variables and the principles for creating macros. The individual commands and functions contained in OpenOffice.org Basic are described below.

The second part deals with working with objects and describing the OpenOffice.org application programming interface. It describes how to work with cells, cell areas, spreadsheets and the document as a whole.

Finally, examples of working with dialogues and events are given. The explanation is supplemented by a number of examples that allow practical verification of the information presented. Spreadsheet documents with the presented macros are available at the link below.
