At the end of 1370, Pope Urban V dies under unclear circumstances. and shortly thereafter the Emperor Charles IV. His friend and secret agent, the Dominican Paul, believes that the two cases are linked and are the work of a mysterious poisoner. Before he can complete his search, however, Ota Brandenburg of the House of Witteslbach takes advantage of the situation and wants to deprive the sick Charles of his throne.
