The interests of the Empire are more important than human life

The Omega Commandos operate in the shadows of the Central Empire. They do not follow laws or rules and answer only to the Emperor. Hila Ebanová knew no other life. As a child of the slums on the planet Colbran, she had a choice between a slow death from an incurable disease or service in the Omegas. For years she lived with her unit, fighting for each other.

But the Omega Commandos have been betrayed, and the Empire has no choice but to sweep their existence under the rug. While a clique of powerful figures demands the Omegas be disbanded, Hila is sent on what may be her final mission. She has always been cynically aware that the interests of the Empire are not the same as the interests of its people, but now she is discovering that the fate of the Omegas is intertwined with the fate of the entire Central Empire.

Jan Kotouč

Jan Kotouč (*1987) focuses on the military sci-fi and space opera subgenres as an author, with most of his work revolving around conflicts in the distant future in the Hirano sector. He published his first standalone book, Pokračování diplomacie (Continuation of Diplomacy) (2009), with the Jules Verne Club, and another novel, Tristanská občanská válka (The Tristan Civil War), is scheduled to be published by the same publisher in two parts during 2011. In addition, he holds creative writing courses, gives lectures at a number of events, and teaches at university. In certain circles, they call him Johnak.
