Octavius
The book brings a completely new translation of the dialogue Octavius Minucius Felix (turn of the 2nd and 3rd century) in a bilingual edition, accompanied by an extensive introductory study. Minucius's apologetic writing, in the form of a conversation between three friends - the author of the dialogue, the Christian Octavius, and the pagan Caecilius - refutes the widespread slander about the Church and presents arguments in favour of the credibility of the Christian message that eventually lead to Caecilius's conversion. With her translation and interpretation, Ladislava Říhová seeks to fill an imaginary gap in Czech theological research, where a comprehensive study that would present Minucius' theology in its entirety has been lacking.
