Night Agent

Peter Sutherland works for the FBI, and as the son of a compromised agent who sold state secrets to the Russians, his career prospects aren't exactly bright. He's all the more surprised when the White House Chief of Staff offers him a position in one of its most secretive departments, where he's to wait by an emergency phone during the night shift.
Months pass, and Peter is growing tired of his service by the silent phone. His musings on the meaningfulness of his job are cut short by the voice of a terrified girl, who tells him her aunt and uncle have just been killed and that she got the emergency number from them. She has a message to pass on: Osprey was right.
Peter finds himself in the middle of a complex investigation involving a long-standing conspiracy that threatens the very fabric of American democracy. To protect the defenceless girl, he must expose a well-hidden traitor collaborating with the Russians. The traitor could be anyone, and navigating the labyrinth of lies requires more than just courage. Peter must take justice into his own hands and go to war with an invisible enemy.
The Night Agent is a gripping political thriller not just for fans of John Grisham—besides its compelling plot, it also offers a chillingly accurate look at the history and present of relations between the two major Cold War powers.

The book was adapted into the series The Night Agent, which became Netflix's most-watched premiere of 2023, and with 168.7 million hours viewed in its first seven days, also the third most-watched premiere in its history. Netflix has already announced a second series.
