Could a broken hyoid be considered the signature of a serial killer? The final installment of the Enzo Files crime series.
The unsolved death of 20-year-old Lucia Martin, the beloved daughter of a good family, is the sixth of seven unsolved murders that have become the subject of Enzo Macleod's bet with journalist Roger Raffin. The victim's bones were found after 14 long years in the French department of Lot-et-Garonne in the churned-up mud at the bottom of a suddenly dry lake. The manner of the girl's strangulation, carried out with such force that the hyoid in her throat broke into three parts, corresponded to the style of the then infamous multiple killer Blanco, who, however, proved to be an irrefutable alibi for a critical time. Or is there something wrong here? This time Enzo sets out to find long-lost clues in order to convict the killer, even though he never dreamed in his wildest dreams what drama his investigation would unleash and what he would uncover...
