Nevada

The cult novel Nevada, now in English for the first time!

Maria Griffiths is almost thirty, works in a New York bookshop and is trying to stay true to her punk values. She's in love with her bike, but not with her girlfriend, Steph. She takes pills and drinks more than she should, but the only thing she injects is oestrogen, because she's trans.

Everything is mostly fine, except Maria and Steph break up. So Maria embarks on a road trip across the States in a car she stole from her ex-girlfriend. She ends up in the backwater town of Star City, Nevada, where she meets James, who is probably, but not definitely, trans and who reminds Maria of her younger self. But Maria is definitely not a role model. Or is she?
