Neurointensive care in a nutshell
The monograph is dedicated to the most common acute neurological diagnoses that emergency room doctors, neurologists, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, and resuscitation doctors may encounter. The book is designed as a concise and illustrative guide to the differential diagnostic and therapeutic process. The aim is to facilitate readers' orientation in acute and subacute care for these patients, including a multidisciplinary approach.
The structure of the chapters allows for very quick orientation – from epidemiology to diagnostics to specific and supportive treatment – in the issues of traumatic brain injuries, status epilepticus (including non-convulsive status epilepticus), cerebrovascular accidents (with a focus on stroke in the vertebrobasilar basin and occlusions of large cerebral arteries in the anterior cerebral circulation), intracerebral hemorrhages, myasthenia gravis (with a focus on myasthenic crisis) and acute polyneuropathies. Separate chapters are devoted to therapeutic apheresis in neurointensive care for selected neurological diagnoses, nutrition and rehabilitation in neurointensive care, and neuroinfections.
The book is supplemented with a number of illustrative images and diagrams that have a single goal, namely to streamline diagnostics and patient care based on the most current recommended practices.
