This magical atmosphere also enchanted the world-famous writer, but an ordinary guide won't be able to convey it to you. To fully experience it requires more than just a map in your hand—or, these days, the one on your mobile.

My journey in the footsteps of the novel

Personally, when I visit historical sites, I'm looking for more than just a brief description. I'm looking for the key to understanding what I'm seeing. I want information that will excite me, something I can grasp, that will give a statue, a painting or a cathedral a completely new dimension.

For a long time, however, I kept running into the same problem. The guides were either too brief, so I missed the context, or so comprehensive that I got lost in the text. And let's be honest—when you're walking across Charles Bridge, the most beautiful open-air sculpture gallery, you want to marvel and look around, not decipher long paragraphs with your head down.

I decided to change that. In our studio, we have created a guide from the Mateo Guides series that combines the mysterious atmosphere of the story with solid history.

What awaits you on this journey?

We will introduce you to the places that played a key role in the novel and supplement them with other locations that enhance the magical atmosphere.

We will present the stories of the most beautiful statuaries on Charles Bridge. We will show you unique and also hidden places of Prague Castle. We will give you tips for gems without the crowds of tourists—for example, the baroque libraries of the Strahov Monastery, which are fully comparable to the famous Klementinum.

We supplement all this with stories of saints, artists and rulers. More than 270 exclusive photographs await you, revealing hidden or normally inaccessible places. We have designed everything to make both navigation and the reading itself on your phone as comfortable as possible.
