My Year 1962

The year is 1962, and no one is in any doubt that the wheel of history is turning. De-Stalinisation is in full swing—the Generalissimo's monument is disappearing from Letná, and Stalinova třída is becoming Vinohradská street. Small-form theatres are springing up like mushrooms all over the country, and the weekly magazine Mladý svět announces the first year of the Zlatý slavík (Golden Nightingale) music poll.
