Municipal politics
This publication, intended primarily for students of political science and related disciplines, describes the model of public administration and self-government and maps the development of the Czech municipal system since 1861. It describes the functions and institutions of local government in the Czech Republic. It also focuses on the electoral system from November 1989 to the present day and the results of local elections in 1990-2006. It describes changes in voter behaviour and does not leave aside the pros and cons of electoral political programmes, voter turnout, preferential voting, typology and composition of coalitions. As the author himself writes: “. The main objective is to present and analyse all three dimensions of municipal politics - institutional, relational and content - in one whole for the first time in the Czech environment. "
