Mother of light

Christmas is approaching, daylight is scarce in Iceland, and terrible weather holds sway. Dómhildur, a young midwife, lives in a flat she inherited from her eccentric great-aunt, who was also a midwife. While most Icelanders are preparing for a dangerous winter storm, Dómhildur discovers a banana box in the cellar containing three unfinished manuscripts. In them, her great-aunt explores three major themes – human nature, light, and chance. Did you know that chance wasn't invented until 1605? And what is the truth about light? And what grows in the dark like a potato?
