Morphin Red

The full moon plays a big role here, but this book isn't about werewolves, even though the results of their full-moon activity are almost identical. Four teenagers, caught up in illegal biotechnological research, are placed in a juvenile detention centre. It's not exactly an ideal place to live, but it's quite suitable for continuing the illegal scientific project.
Baltimore is blossoming into technological beauty, and its inhabitants into biotechnological beauty. Meanwhile, bioware in a null configuration lies dormant within the city's organism. Twenty years. One seemingly innocent mention on a blog was all it took for the null configuration to become active. The masterminds behind the original research thought they had perfectly covered all their tracks. Perhaps the tracks, but not their creation. Events then pick up such pace that they soon realise the avalanche that has been triggered will be hard to stop at the doors of their luxurious offices. The result of their illegal experiment is far too intelligent for that. They have only one option left: to do everything they can (regardless of bank accounts and body counts) to prevent the old saying from coming true: Those who live by the sword, die by the sword.
A standalone novel.
