Moravia during the Ice Age
In Moravia, the tradition of scientifically studying the Quaternary period dates far back to the 19th century. However, a comprehensive, multidisciplinary publication like this has never been released before. In it, the author documents the exceptional nature of Moravia compared to its surrounding territories, emphasising the extraordinary role of its karst regions. He focuses on the groups of mammals that lived in Moravia at the end of the Pleistocene, and especially on the ecosystem changes brought about by migration and extinction. His treatise is therefore not only a complex lesson on the last ice age, but also an inspiration for solving current ecological or climatic problems. The book, featuring a wealth of visual material and original illustrations by the artist Petr Modlitba, is intended for students and experts in the fields of geology, palaeontology, geography, zoology, botany, environmental science and archaeology, as well as for those interested in karst phenomena.
